Anthrax’s Scott Ian Announces “Speaking Words” Tour

This spring, the always-outspoken Scott Ian, who splits his time between Anthrax and The Damned Things, will embark on his first ever “speaking words” tour, which the guitarist says will be “no poetry reading.” You can catch a full listing of tour dates at the bottom of this post, following the jump.

When questioned about his upcoming jaunt across the country, Ian explained:

“I’m calling it ‘Speaking Words’ because the pretension of saying I am doing a ‘spoken-word’ tour is too much to bear. This ain’t no poetry reading. This isn’t an evening of sensitive discourse. It’s an evening of ridiculous truth. It’s me talking (swearing) about this insane life I’ve led over the last 31 years, the people I’ve met and the shit that’s happened. And when I’m done swearing, you can ask me anything you want, the floor is yours.”

Though we’ve seen glimpses of Ian’s very large personality through various TV specials and interviews, like many, I am quite intrigued by this change in direction, and am curious to see how it works out for him. Comment below and let UTG know if you plan on attending.

This seems pretty cool. If you’re a fan of spoken word, I highly recommend seeing Henry Rollins. His show took my breath away. I couldn’t believe how much that man could SWEAT either. He told stories from the Black Flag days to playing soccer with children in third world countries. Diverse, funny, punk, political- the whole nine.
