This is the most depressing post I have written in 2013. Not only does it bum me out, but it completely caught me and the rest of the staff off guard.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we must report New York rock outfit The Gay Blades have officially called it quits.

Taking to their social networks after months of silence, the members of The Gay Blades released a message to fans this evening announcing their plans to go their separate ways:

“Been quiet for a long time, but in order to truly focus on new things, we need to close this chapter. Thanks jerks. We’re out. #TGB4n”

Anyone familiar with the story of UTG knows our name is taken from a song by The Gay Blades titled “Robots Can Fuck Your Shit Up.” We will miss them more than perhaps any other band that has broken up since this site launched. We will continue to follow the efforts of the various members and update you as soon as new projects are announced. For now, click below to stream the song that helped this site get its start:
