Beyonce Recorded 80 Songs For Self-Titled Album

Beyonce Knowles threw the music industry for a loop earlier this month with the surprise midnight release of her self-titled fifth album, a massive pop record that also included music videos for all fourteen tracks. Clocking in at over an hour, there is already a lot of content to digest on Beyonce, but it’s nothing compared to what was left on the cutting room floor.

The singer revealed in a video, which you can watch after the break, that she recorded eighty songs during the sessions for the album. On choosing which songs to include in the final cut, she said, “It was the songs that were more effortless for me that stuck around that I still love that I loved a year ago when I recorded them.”

The initially iTunes-exclusive Beyonce quickly became the fastest-selling album in the store’s history, with over one million downloads worldwide during its first week on sale. It has also been at the center of a retail controversy, as some stores, such as Target and Amazon, are refusing to sell physical copies of the album to protest the early digital release.

If you’re one of the few who hasn’t picked up a copy yet, you can grab it right here.
