The New Trailer For ‘The Raid 2: Berandal’ Will Blow You Away

It takes a lot these days to make an action movie that stands out from the crowd. Action movies are a dime a dozen so it takes something truly amazing to make most fans of the genre to take notice. Today the new trailer for The Raid 2: Berandal hit the net and we noticed…hard.

The trailer starts slow, setting up the story (all plot revealed is said to be “first act material”), but soon the fighting begins. If you thought The Raid: Redemption was good you have not seen anything yet. Picking up right where the first film ends our hero finds himself going to prison undercover to protect his family and find out about the corruption in his own police force while simultaneously taking down a brutal crime syndicate.

The first film, The Raid: Redemption, stars Iko Uwais as Rama, a member of a S.W.A.T. team sent in to an apartment complex to take down the crime organization that runs it. They soon become trapped in the building and have to fight their way out with no backup. The Raid: Redemption was universally praised by critics for its nonstop action and phenomenal martial arts sequences.

The Raid 2: Berandal ups the action ante of the first film with car chases, bat fights, and riot level prison yard fights. All of this is complicated by a new crime organization full of new foes for the cast to beat the living hell out of. The best part is that this is not even the final chapter, there is already a third Raid film in the works.

You can view the new trailer below. The Raid 2: Berandal premiers at Sundance in January and releases in the United States on March 28th.
