Joey Jordison: “I Did Not Quit Slipknot”

It would be a massive understatement to say that the metal world was shocked in December when Slipknot announced the departure of founding drummer Joey Jordison. The iconic, masked band revealed little about the reasons behind the split in their initial announcement, stating only that Jordison and the group would be parting ways for “personal reasons.” There has been speculation that Jordison left the band voluntarily, but the drummer posted a short response to these rumors on Facebook last night, making it clear that that was not the case.

“To my fans, friends, and associates…
I would like to start the New Year by addressing the recent rumors and speculation regarding my departure from Slipknot. I want to make it very clear that I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT. This band has been my life for the last 18 years, and I would never abandon it, or my fans. This news has shocked and blindsided me as much as it has all of you. While there is much I would like to say, I must remain silent to further details at this time. I would like to thank you all for your unwavering love and support, and wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year.
-Joey“

More details on the split may emerge in the future, but in the meantime, check out Jordison’s latest project, Scar the Martyr. Initially founded as a side project with vocalist Henry Derek, it will now become Jordison’s main focus in the music world.
