‘The Simpsons’ Hilariously Apologize For Labeling Judas Priest ‘Death Metal’

the-simpsons-2013

The Simpsons made the dreams of rock fans worldwide come true earlier this month when the animated sitcom featured a cartoon version of 80s metal icons Judas Priest performing in the fictional town of Springfield. Within minutes of the band’s appearance however, people began to complain and poke fun at the long-running show for having the act introduced as ‘death metal.’ No one from FOX commented on the matter at the time (why would they?), but last night (January 11) the animators issued a response in a way entirely their own.

One of the longest running gags on The Simpsons involves the text Bart is writing on his classroom chalkboard during the show’s opening credits. The message changes every week, and over the last two decades has ranged from hilarious to downright sad. Last night, the message was one written specifically to those on the internet who felt it necessary to make light of the show’s decision to label Judas Priest as a ‘death metal’ band.
