Young Fathers Want You To “Get Up” With Their New Single

Young Fathers have been such a refreshing force in my music catalog since I came across Tape One and Tape Two through Anticon. I try to follow anything Anticon has their name associated with and more often than not I’m far from disappointed. This is certainly the case with Young Fathers who are the most intriguing (lesser known) hip-hop-ish act I’ve heard since Shabazz Palaces. They incorporate such unique ideas and elements into their music that you just can’t help but be hypnotized and get lost in it.

Since announcing their first studio album, DEAD, I’ve been lurking around their pages waiting for each single that drops leading up to it. Both “Low” and “War” got me anxious for the new release (out 2/3/14) but “Get Up” is equally as enjoyable if not better than the singles that came before it. It’d be easy to call Young Fathers an acquired taste; their sound certainly won’t appeal to everyone. However, if you’re interested in any kind of alternative hip-hop with experimental production then you should certainly check out this trio.

Stream “Get Up” after the jump (or at NME) and pre-order the shit out of DEAD via Big Dada and Anticon if you know what’s good for you. I’m sorry for threatening you.
