Bruce Spingsteen Parodies “Born To Run” With Jimmy Fallon

Bruce Springsteen debuted a slightly reworked version of his classic single “Born To Run” during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon‘s television show late last night.

Joined by Fallon, who like The Boss was dressed in Bruce’s signature sleeveless outfit, Springsteen took to the late night stage to perform a parody of “Born To Run” dedicated to New Jersey governor Chris Christie and his recent ‘Bridgegate’ scandal. New lyrics to the song included:

“They shut down the tollbooths of glory ’cause we didn’t endorse Chris Christie,” and “Man, I’ve gotta take a leak, but I can’t, “I’m stuck in Governor Chris Christie’s Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam.”

News of Springsteen’s spoof will no doubt hit close to home for Governor Christie, who in the past has claimed to know every song in Bruce’s extensive catalog. No response or comment has been issued at this time.

For those of you living beyond the reach of New Jersey politics, ‘Bridgegate’ refers to a recent bit of political drama Christie found himself embroiled in after claims were made that an aide working for the New Jersey governor orchestrated traffic mayhem on the George Washington Bridge connecting New Jersey to Manhattan. The gridlock was allegedly intended to punish a Democratic mayor who did not endorse the governor’s re-election. Click here to learn more.
