Grab The Tissues: Morrissey Signs to Harvest Records, Releasing New Album This Year

I’m still trying to decide whether or not there is a double entendre in the headline above.

Legendary vocalist and former Smiths frontman Morrissey announced today that he has signed a record deal with Harvest/Columbia and is currently planning to release an album of new material before the end of the year.

According to a press release issued earlier today, Morrissey will enter the studio in the near future to work on his follow-up to 2009’s Years Of Refusal. It will be produced by Joe Chiccarelli (the White Stripes, Beck, the Strokes), and recorded with his touring band, Boz Boorer (guitar), Jesse Tobias (guitar), Solomon Walker (bass), Matthew Walker (drums), and Gustavo Manzur (keyboards). No title or additional information is available at this time.

Morrissey will also be touring in 2014, with dates expected to surface in the near future. Follow UTG on Twitter for updates.
