ALBUM STREAM: Woods Of Desolation – ‘As The Stars’

In the past couple of years or more, bands like Deafheaven, Alcest, Oathbreaker, and Wolves in the Throne Room have brought to life an emerging genre that combines the best elements of post-rock, black metal, and even shoegaze into one soaring, energy-filled, and often hauntingly beautiful beast.

Australia’s Woods Of Desolation is another band that can be lumped into this very specific category and as their newest effort, As The Stars, is set to be released on February 14, they’re taking aim at the top rungs of the genre’s ladder. The new full-length is streaming over at Stereogum currently well ahead of its release next month and if you’re a fan of any of the aforementioned acts you’d be depraving yourself of something truly remarkable if you choose to pass on As The Stars. Expect to see this album on many notable lists this year in music. Hell, it should probably be on a lot of lists just for the album art alone.

Stream the entire album after the jump and be sure to abuse the opportunity of using it as your soundtrack this Valentine’s Day with your special someone as it’s released via Northern Silence Productions.
