LYRIC VIDEO: Famous Last Words – “Council Of The Dead”

Last year, the post hardcore outfit Famous Last Words released their concept album, Two-Faced Charade, via InVogue Records. This year, they plan on dropping another concept album through the label. It doesn’t seem that we have an album title or release date yet, however, the band gave us a huge hint as to what the concept is, as well as premiered the first single.

Their “hint,” is a letter congratulating an unnamed person on joining “The Council.” You can read that text by looking below. The accompanying song is titled “Council Of The Dead,” and you can watch the lyric video for it below as well.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for joining us, and welcome to The Council.

I am certain you have many questions. You are undoubtedly asking yourself three in particular:

What has happened to me?
Where am I?
Who are these people?

Before we continue, I’m obligated to inform you that you must accept one undeniable and irrefutable truth. Your life as you once knew it is no more.

With that being said, it is my wholehearted pleasure to inform each one of you that you have departed from your physical, human form and are now dead.

I understand you are exceptionally confused, scared, and in absolute and complete denial. This is why we are joined in this Council. We are in a place that I like to call The Land of Deceased.

The traumatic process of death that all souls must endure is an extraordinary yet inevitable incident. As many of you have already realized, the memories of your previous lives have already begun to fade. I know this to be true, for it happens to every soul. However you are a very spectacular group of souls indeed.

I ask you now to look around the room. Carefully examine your fellow Council members. Do any of them look familiar? Although you may not remember or understand I can assure you that each one of you are indeed connected. You were connected in your previous lives and now again in death. You may believe that this is all impossible, that this must be some horrid nightmare, but I assure you that it is not.
You may believe your death means you are no longer an entity. This too is false. You have all been given a very special opportunity that most souls do not receive. You have the opportunity to gain understanding and closure, to receive sublime insight into your previous life, and to realize your future destiny.

Now, as we move forward, we will unravel the mystery of your lives and the affiliations they had with one another. Your deaths are what brought you here, but your lives are the key to unlocking the truth.

I’m not here to judge you. I’m not here to preach. My role here is to guide you as we search through your past. My role is to help you connect the dots and reveal the truth.

I’m here to show you how our souls survive.
