Between Daft Punk cleaning up and The Beatles reunion, you may’ve noticed some new commercials that premiered during last night’s Grammys. There was Tegan and Sara’s Oreo spot and the trailer for the anticipated Disney movie, Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie.

The trailer has a chilling cover of “Once Upon a Dream” done by Lana Del Rey playing as we’re introduced to Jolie’s malicious Maleficent and Elle Fanning’s Sleeping Beauty. Anyone with a childhood knows the story of Sleeping Beauty – Maleficent hates her; she pricks her finger and falls into a deep slumber. Well this time around we’ll see things from Maleficent’s perspective and get a lot more action than the animated classic.

If this one does well, could we expect Disney to focus on more villains in the future? 101 Dalmations‘ Cruella Deville and The Little Mermaid‘s Ursula come to mind. We’ll have to wait and see how much people love Maleficent when it hits theaters May 30. In the mean time you can watch the trailer below.
