ALBUM STREAM: Noah Gundersen – ‘Ledges’

24-year old Noah Gundersen, whose sultry voice and poignant lyrics have garnered many comparisons to Dylan, Guthrie, and other folk legends, is currently streaming his debut LP Ledges over at Spin.com. Give it a listen here.

This is the first time the Washington native has graced fans with new material since 2011’s Family, which gained a fair amount of commercial recognition thanks to FX’s popular biker-drama Sons of Anarchy. The album itself was recorded in Seattle’s Studio Litho, with the help of Gundersen’s sister Abby, who plays violin, cello, and piano, and his brother Jonathan, a drummer.

Gundersen, whose upbringing was overtly religious, believes that Ledges illustrates a notable shift in both his songwriting and world views.

“I’m not a religious person anymore, but I’ve learned that spiritual energy transcends religion and that’s something I’ve attempted to incorporate into my music,” Gundersen said.

Though I am admittedly a long-time fan of the singer-songwriter, after only a few tracks I can already promise you that this is one album that will not disappoint; in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it made quite a few “best of” lists come the end of the year. If you agree, you can pick up a hard copy of Ledges when it officially drops next week (February 11).
