Finding your celebrity look-a-like can be fun, but it’s almost more fun when the look-a-likes are both already celebrities. Such is the case with Chad Smith, long-time drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Hollywood funny-guy and cowbell enthusiast Will Ferrell.

Ferrell addressed their similarities in his AMA on Reddit saying, “It has been acknowledged many times that myself and Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, share a resemblance to each other. A lot of people think that it’s me playing for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But that would be an insult to Chad Smith. The truth of the matter is there is no Will Ferrell. Only Chad Smith.”

Ferrell then took to Instagram saying, “Hello everyone. I just wanted to say I had a great time on Reddit, and it was great to finally clear up that I am actually Chad Smith.”

To which the real Chad Smith responded on Instagram with “It’s Chad! Stop impersonating me. In fact, I need you…drum battle, me and you. I’ve seen your skills. You don’t got ’em. Let’s go. Golden cowbell. Winner. Boom!”

After the Instagram exchange, it seems the two not-so-secret doppelgängers will take to their instruments and face off once and for all to determine who the better percussionist really is, but for charity.

“If we can raise $300,000 for Cancer for College I will face off with you in the greatest drum vs. cowbell showdown the world has ever seen. We can do it on stage at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert or in front of a mutually convenient public library. Your call. Also, would you rather fight a hundred duck sized ducks or one horse sized horse?” Ferrell wrote on Smith’s own Reddit AMA.

This is all getting a bit ridiculous, but it’ll be nice to finally clear up where the real talent lies. Let’s have some fun and discuss who the real winner of this epic battle will be in the comments below.
