John Singleton Is Working On A Tupac Shakur Biopic

Biggie got his, so it’s time Tupac Shakur got one, right? Well John Singleton, the director behind Boyz N The Hood, is working on bringing the slain rapper’s life to the big screen.

This isn’t something new. It’s been an untitled project for about five years and Singleton has finally stepped in to not only direct, but to rewrite it as well. No one is doubting he can do Tupac’s life justice. He’s not only responsible for Hood AKA one of the most defining films of the ‘90s, but also Poetic Justice, which starred the late rapper and Janet Jackson.

So Singleton not only has the chops, but actually knew Tupac personally. He once told the Hollywood Reporter, “Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with. His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.” Sadly they didn’t get to spend that lifetime together as Tupac was gunned down in 1996.

No word on who would even play Tupac, but we do know that James G. Robinson and David Robinso of Morgan Creek Productions will be producing it along with Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, who’ll be an executive producer.
