It is hard to believe six years have passed since “Love Lockdown” originally hit radio, but this morning its been given new life thanks to an incredible trap remix courtesy of Imanos and NGHTMRE.

Kanye West caught fans off guard when “Love Lockdown” hit the radio in 2008. People accustomed to hearing the Late Registration rapper on tracks like “Gold Digger” did not know how to approach his colder, more vocoder-driven sound at first, but the song would eventually go platinum and top charts worldwide. The remix found below, which is available as a free mp3, takes the tribal-like catchiness of the original and gives it an energetic backing that is nearly impossible to resist.

A description accompanying the song’s release reads:

Kanye West is a musical genius as a producer and emcee, I’ve always wanted to remix a track of his, and “Love Lockdown” is one of my favorites. My homie NGHTMRE a new producer from LA I’ve been working with and I got in the studio together for this one and did our thing.
This remix adds more of a club turnt up vibe to it for everyone to dance to and go stupid!

With cold weather gripping much of the US, there could be no more fitting time for this remix to be unleashed. It’s infectious in its own right, but it also maintains the sense of yearning and desire that made the original so hard to walk away from. Enjoy.
