Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Announces 2014 Dates: Avenged Sevenfold, Korn and Body Count to Appear

Metalheads can finally begin planning their summer as the tour dates have been revealed for this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. But perhaps more exciting is that we now know three of the bands who will be appearing at the annual metal extravaganza.

Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer recently let it slip that Korn and Avenged Sevenfold would be headlining the tour. More interestingly, rapper/actor Ice-T revealed on his “Final Level” podcast that his legendary metal band Body Count would appear “on a couple of dates” of the tour. More after the jump.

Body Count is wrapping up their new album Manslaughter, which will see a release on Sumerian Records at some point this year. It sounds like the band is taking bookings for additional U.S. shows this summer as well. Having witnessed Body Count’s insane return to the stage at November’s Fun Fun Fun Festival, you’re going to hope one of those “couple of dates” is at a city near you. I just wish they would play the Summer Slaughter tour instead, as that has become my metal summer package tour of choice.

So in short, Mayhem Fest is continuing on with its trend of booking boring, predictable headliners and a much more exciting, diverse undercard. The full lineup will be announced on March 31.
