YG Contends For Album Cover Of The Year With ‘My Krazy Life’

As someone who takes great pride in their music collection, I have a great appreciation for albums with killer artwork. It doesn’t matter whether you use a photograph or hire an artist, just make sure whatever image accompanies your latest release is so eye-catching even people unfamiliar with your efforts will be curious about music contained within. Cover art should be just that – art – and far too often musicians seem to forget this, resulting in lackluster imagery that is forgotten almost as soon as it is seen.

YG may be new to the album game, but he already has his cover art skills locked down. The cover for his debut album, My Krazy Life, features the Def Jam talent posing for a mugshot in black and white with a sign around his neck that contains the album title. It’s a simple image, but it immediately grabs you. It shouts “You need to hear this,” without color or exclamation. You can view the cover, as well as the official track listing for the album, below.

My Krazy Life has been on our most anticipated list since YG hit it big with “My Nigga,” but seeing this artwork has us more excited than ever to hear what this Compton-bred emcee has in store. If you feel the same, click here and pre-order the album.
