UTG PHOTOS: Kaiser Chiefs (2/19/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to photograph Kaiser Chiefs at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on February 19, 2014.

It’s safe to say that most people who like indie rock would appreciate Kaiser Chiefs. Although I wasn’t a “die-hard” fan of the band before going to photograph them, I left with the notion that I would be one soon.

The band performed a sold out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg where an eclectic group of fans gathered to see the Chiefs play. Being a British band, it wasn’t unusual to see how many English natives had come out to the show. Representing the local scene were Brooklyn’s own Honduras, who gave a stellar opening performance.

Vocalist Ricky Wilson had no problem exhibiting his sense of humor, “I wish I spoke more American. Do you guys have semis over here? Like half an erection…”

The playful banter carried on throughout the show, speculating that Brooklyn is the “Gateway to America,” but not in the bad way like a gateway drug.

Kaiser Chiefs’ new album, Education, Education, Education & War, will be coming out on April 1. The highly anticipated album is the band’s first release since 2011’s The Future Is Medieval. You can pre-order the vinyl here.

Check out below to see photos of the 16-song performance, featuring everything from hits like “I Predict A Riot,” and “Ruby,” to the band’s newest single, “Coming Home.”
