Under The Gun’s Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, stopped over at Mega Fest on February 21 at Compuware Arena in Plymouth, MI.

I got the opportunity to shoot at a brand new venue that I never had photographed at, and let me just tell you, it was awesome! I’ve shot in arenas before, so I was used to the atmosphere and how everything worked. The fabulous companies of AEG and The Crofoot decided to put together one giant event consisting of seven major bands and bringing them into this giant 4,500+ venue. The event itself ended up selling out, which to see a packed out venue with fans going nuts was absolutely amazing. Mega Fest consisted of bands such as Michigan’s own Wilson, Australian metalcore band Northlane, LA metal group Issues, Georgia metal band Attila, California group Of Mice & Men, Michigan nativesWe Came As Romans and the UK’s Bring Me The Horizon.

Each group came out with one thing on their mind and one thing only: to absolutely destroy and put on one of craziest metal arena shows that has rolled into Michigan. Every single band stopped at nothing to achieve that and from what I saw, each band put on a performance of a lifetime in front of thousands of people.

From start to finish, Wilson’s party-filled performance brought the opening of the event perfectly. Northlane’s heavy-hitting tracks left me going “holy shit, that was nuts!” Issues had non-stop energy. Attila brought the circle pits. Of Mice & Men’s fans went absolutely crazy. We Came As Romans returned home and put on a solid hometown performance, and then every single fan sang along with Oli and BMTH.

Overall, Mega Fest was an event that each attending individual will remember for a lifetime and if you did attend the event, you may have noticed secret fliers going around hinting at yet another Mega Fest happening later this year. Keep your eyes peeled, ’cause I have this feeling it’s about to be yet another solid event not to miss.
