Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to the Amityville Music Hall in New York to photograph Shai Hulud on February 24, 2014.
At the very end of a two-month tour that Shai Hulud boasted as fueled by sickness, Del Taco, Subway, snow, burritos, new friends, van breakdowns, and all around “shenanigans,” the band played a final show in Amityville, NY. The guys shared the stage with Extinction AD, Walkers, and many more.
The New York show was just what the guys needed after some killer shows alongside This Or The Apocalypse, Sworn In, Sirens & Sailors, and many more. The band released their most recent album, Reach Beyond The Sun, in February 2013 via Metal Blade Records.
For a band that has been notorious for lineup changes over the years, there is one thing that rings true: they kick ass every time they take the stage. That being said, guitarist Matt Fox did take a moment to calm down the show and say some kind words for Long Island’s dearly departed Daniel Bobis, who many remember as the drummer of hardcore band Cipher. Danny was a close friend of mine and many of the fans in attendance, so it was certainly a nice reflecting moment.
