STREAM: Kendrick Lamar And Tame Impala’s “Backwards”

US hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar and Grammy award nominated Australian psychedelic-rock outfit Tame Impala have collaborated to produce “Backwards,” a re-imagining of Tame Impala’s 2012 hit “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.” The track, which is taken from the film adaptation of Divergent, the highly-anticipated soundtrack to the first installation of Veronica Roth’s book trilogy, is available to stream after the jump.

A rather unorthodox pairing, “Backwards” features a series of passionate verses from Lamar juxtaposed against a gloriously washed out chorus from Tame Impala, to create a refreshing, unique and powerful listening experience.

“Backwards” is one of series of much-hyped pairings to be featured on the Divergent soundtrack with the other seemingly unlikely collaborations such as Chance the Rapper guesting on a Pia Mia/Clams Casino track and A$AP Rocky and Gesaffelstein working together on “In Distress,” joining a soundtrack that will also feature three new tracks from Ellie Goulding as well as previously unreleased material from the likes of Skrillex, M83, Snow Patrol and more.
