‘Divergent’ Dives For Number One Box Office Spot

Opening to an impressive $56 million weekend gross, Divergent has successfully claimed this weekend’s number one spot for box office numbers. While releasing to poor reviews, it seems that the Veronica Roth-penned story can still bring in an audience, even with less than average review numbers.

Newcomer Muppets Most Wanted took the number two spot, pushing last week’s number one, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, down to number three. Pertaining to family films, it is still nice to see The LEGO Movie retaining a presence, holding tight at the number nine spot.

In its first weekend God’s Not Dead debuted with a modest $8.6 million, pushing Need For Speed down even further from last week. The Grand Budapest Hotel was the only existing film to move up some spots, moving up one spot since last week.
