‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer: Bigger, Badder, And More Hulk-Like Than Ever Before

After a short preview (in low quality) began making the rounds this morning, the first full trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has found its way online in glorious HD.

Featuring Megan Fox as reporter April O’Neil, the first trailer for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens with Fox stumbling across a fight in a NYC subway tunnel. The lights are flickering so it’s hard to see what is going on, but being the reporter that she is, she reaches for her smartphone and immediately begins filming. She may not know what is happening, but clearly someone – or should we say something – is causing chaos under the NYC streets.

Before we see what April is filming, the trailer cuts to a montage of destruction and action shots that raise your pulse while narration from William Fichtner (Shredder) explains how heroes are not born, but created. Then, just before the end, you get a few clean shots of your favorite crime fighting reptiles. You can view the trailer below.

It would be easy to hate on the steroid-driven design of the Turtles, but I would be lying if I did not confess a smile was plastered across my face for the majority of the trailer’s duration. I can forgive any deviation from the source material as long as the final product is entertaining, and so far there is a lot to love about the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Here are two screenshots from the above video to give you a closer look at the two of the Turtles:

They. Look. HUGE.

The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opens nationwide May 16.

I might have squealed like a little girl at this.

As someone that was full-on obsessed with TMNT as a kid (Secret of the Ooze was the first movie I saw in theaters), it’s pretty hard for me to accept any adaptations since. The rebooted Nickelodeon stuff is atrocious and I’m not liking this design choice, not to mention Megan Fox as April, but I’ll watch it regardless out of curiosity for nostalgia sake. All signs point to no on this for me — having no faith in Bay following the awful Transformers movies certainly doesn’t help.
