Michael Jackson’s New Record ‘Xscape’ Drops In May

It’s been almost five years since Michael Jackson passed away, but like many fallen stars, there was of course unreleased material waiting in the wings. So fans can expect new music from the King of Pop when Xscape drops in May.

The album shares its name with one of the 8 tracks on the new record. L.A. Reid, the project’s executive producer, said, “Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” adding, “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”

While Reid was the executive, Timbaland served as the lead producer and worked alongside others like Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain.

Epic Records couldn’t just release Jackson’s newest album as is, oh no. Collectors can expect a deluxe edition as well that will have original sourced recordings. Both versions of Xscape will be available for pre-order on iTunes on April 1, just a little over a month before it’s released May 13.
