NEEDTOBREATHE Return To Religious Roots With “Wasteland”

It is no secret that NEEDTOBREATHE cut their teeth in the Christian market before crossing over into the alternative mainstream, but many of the group’s more recent recordings have approached their relationship with faith in less direct ways. Mentions of God and Jesus became references to hope and salvation, which allowed the band to share their beliefs without coming across as preachers with instruments. Today, with the release of the third promotional single from their forthcoming album, NEEDTOBREATHE prove they are still in touch with the religion that first inspired them to sing.

“Wasteland” is a mainly acoustic song that speaks about being confident in the belief that as long as God is on your side there is nothing and no one that can stand in your way. You may be broke, sick, or troubled in ways we cannot begin to describe, but according to this song, as long as you cling to your belief in the unknown you can trust that you are never alone. You can stream “Wasteland” below:

The song builds to the usual roar of semi-praise and worship that all great NTB tracks eventually reach, but there is an unmistakable sense of sincerity to the whole affair that could make even the most diehard agnostic tap their toes and sing along. When this song is played live, there is no doubt in mind that lives will be changed.
