Sigur Rós To Release “The Rains Of Castamere” For ‘Game Of Thrones’

HBO’s Game of Thrones will be returning to television screens for its fourth season this Sunday, April 6. We found out late last year that Sigur Rós would have a cameo this season. Now they have also recorded a cover of “The Rains of Castamere” for the show.

The original track served as the score for the infamous Red Wedding scene last season. A version of it was also recorded by The National and appeared on the season two soundtrack.

You can listen to a short preview of the track right now on Amazon. It’s set to be released on April 13. Head after the jump to check out The National’s take on the song, as well as The Hold Steady’s recording of “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” which appeared in season three.

What musicians would you like to see give their take on some tunes from Westeros?
