UTG Track-By-Track: Big Reeno – ‘Watch My Indie Throne’

With only a handful of days to go before his new EP arrives in stores, North Dakota based hip-hop up and comer Big Reeno has partnered with UTG to share a track-by-track rundown of Watch My Indie Throne.

Featuring seven new tracks, including “The Rain” (featuring Dizzy Wright) and “Home” (featuring King Los), the latest release from Big Reeno seems poised to launch the buzzworthy middle of America emcee into the national spotlight. We knew as soon as we heard the first single we had to be involved in the release of this record, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to share this exclusive look at the stories behind Watch My Indie Throne. You can read the track-by-track below.

Watch My Indie Throne arrives in stores April 15. To celebrate the EP, Big Reeno is currently on the road with Yelawolf and select dates with T-Pain and Tech N9ne.

“IT WAS ALL A DREAM”

This was sorta my victory song. Coming from where I am from, I was never suppose to make it this far in music. So it is me basically celebrating the success we’ve had so far.

“COLD AS ICE (THE LAYOVER)”

I am a fan of rock music, so “Cold As Ice” was just a fun record I made to bring both worlds together. I guess you can say it’s my version of Run DMC & Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” [laughs].

“IRON MAN 3” FT. KOLTEN LEE

“Iron Man 3” is a record I made in response to the hate I was getting from other rappers in my city, and also people I regarded as friends. It was definitely therapeutic for me.

“HOME” FT. KING LOS

This is a record I did with King Los and it’s just us lyrically giving different thoughts and perspectives on where we consider home or where we feel at home.

“THIRD CHILD”

This track is me in story telling mode. It’s three verses with three different stories about trials, tribulations, failures, fall from grace, success and victory. It’s a song that everyone can relate to and even learn from.

“CELEBRATE” FT. SEAN KINGSTON

This song was used as the theme song for a big rugby tournament out in Asia. It’s just a fun, summer record. It’s just about being happy, having fun and celebrating life no matter the circumstance.

“THE RAIN” FT. DIZZY WRIGHT & STEVIE STONE

This is probably my favorite track on the album. There’s different pieces that make it up. It’s the flow, the rapid-fire rap delivery, the melody on the hook. I think it’s a fine piece of musical art if I may say so myself [laughs].
