Pharrell Brings All His Friends Onstage For An Excellent Coachella Performance

Mr. Do It All and suspected vampire Pharrell Williams took the stage in Indio, California Saturday night (donning his gone-viral hat that aids in preventing wildfires and appears to double as a bird house) for a guest-filled (and dust-filled) set that seemed to wow those in attendance. Throughout his 18-song performance Pharrell brought Nelly, Busta Rhymes, P Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Tyler, The Creator, and Diplo onstage for various tracks as the desert dust progressively took a toll on Lil’ Skateboard P’s pipes.

Toward the end of his set, Pharrell could hardly sing at all, finally giving up during his finale in mega-hit “Happy” as he invited Odd Future, Lorde, Busta Rhymes, Haim, and more onstage to just dance it out and enjoy the last moments of his first-weekend Coachella performance. The crowd didn’t seem to mind but Pharrell was noticeably upset about the situation as he asked the fans to help him out by singing along and promised a better performance for Coachella’s second weekend. I wasn’t in attendance, but watching from home on YouTube’s live stream, I thought it was one of the more exciting sets of the weekend thus far. It may not have been as arresting had Pharrell’s friends not been included, but the N.E.R.D. frontman nailed it regardless.

Watch the entire performance after the jump and judge for yourselves. Clear some space for dancing.
