First ‘Gone Girl’ Trailer Keeps Things Mysterious

The first trailer for David Fincher’s adaptation of Gone Girl has found its way online.

Popping up a few short hours after the first poster was released, the initial trailer for Gone Girl is as alluring as it is confusing. Viewers learn up front that Nick Dunne’s (Ben Affleck) wife has gone missing on the day of her wedding anniversary, then see brief glimpses from the media blitz and police investigation that soon follows. Dialogue takes a backseat to imagery, but with the eye of Fincher guiding the lens there is very little reason to complain. You can view the trailer below.

There has been some controversy surrounding the release of Gone Girl due to the early production reveal that the story’s third act would be changed from that found in Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel. What those changes will entail remains unknown, but we will try our best to not spoil the ending should such information surface prior to the film’s October 2014 release date.
