UTG PHOTOS: The Decibel Magazine Tour (4/11/14)

Under The Gun sent photographer, Derek Scancarelli, to Best Buy Theater in New York City to photograph The Decibel Magazine Tour on April 11, 2014.

In 2014, March Madness came in the form of decades of metal. The Decibel Magazine Tour spanned across 21 cities, traveling between Orlando and Seattle before wrapping up in the Northeast.

The tour featured metal legends Carcass, our friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, Canada’s Gorguts, and the youngsters in Noisem.

Check out below the jump to see some photos from the show. If you made it out to see any of the dates, let us know what you thought of the concert.

Carcass are internationally recognized as the creators of the gore-grind genre, bringing metal to extremes no one had seen before. The Liverpool band became popular throughout the ’80s and ’90s, releasing five studio albums. The band broke up in 1996 to countless fans’ dismay. After a few years of reunion shows and deliberation, the band released Surgical Steel in 2013, Carcass’ first full-length since 1996.

The Black Dahlia Murder are still touring off their 2013 release Everblack. Simply put, TBDM is death metal done right. While performing live, vocalist Trevor Strnad holds back nothing, blasting out sounds I can’t comprehend projecting from a human’s vocal chords. Watching the master crafting of Ryan Knight play his guitar is a grounding experience. A genre that is as powerful and overwhelming as metal still requires a serious stroke of gentle precision. On May 27, the band will be releasing a DVD — you can see the trailer for it here. To see an interview we conducted with them in front of a bunch of toliets at Warped Tour, click here.
