Cleveland native Machine Gun Kelly has spent the better part of the last year on the road, but somewhere between crossing state lines and hopping flights he has found time to lay the groundwork for what will eventually lead to his sophomore album. He’s kept quiet as to when fans can expect new tracks, but this morning he surprised fans everywhere by marking his 24th birthday with the release of a new track titled “Sail.”

Built on a slow, pulsing beat that hints at the aggressive delivery MGK brings to almost every track, “Sail” is dubbed by the man himself as ‘real rapper theme music.’ It’s mean, brooding, and without restraint. Kels goes in, bar after bar, on topics ranging from the way the industry has treated him, to his dreams and how he plans to achieve them. You can stream and download the song, for free, below.

As we mentioned above, MGK has been keeping his plans for the future under wraps, but he does mention on “Sail” that he plans to be on tour for the foreseeable future. If you have yet to catch him live I must urge you to seek out his next performance in your area. Whether you’re a diehard fan of rap or a casual listener, there are few artists in all of music with the kind of over-the-top stage presence Machine Gun Kelly delivers on a nightly basis.
