Like other recent horror series, [REC] is returning to its roots. In the new trailer for [REC]4: Apocalypse, Angela (Manuela Velasco) returns. She was in the first two films, remember? Only now she’s on a boat, being wisely quarantined. I’m sure that quarantine will work well – about as well as every other movie quarantine we’ve ever seen.
In fact, Apocalypse is a direct sequel to the second film, with the only bit returning from the wedding-crashing [REC]3: Genesis being the break from full shaky cam. They even brought back Jaume Balagueró, director of the first two films.
In the new trailer, we get all kinds of goodness: a bloodthirsty horde, small-quarters defense tactics, intra-crew tension, and even English subtitles. It’s good, bloody fun, and it will come to theaters, as you may have already guessed, on October 31.
