Slayer surprised fans by opening last night’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards with a 3-song set that included a brand new song called “Implode.” The surprises continued late into the night as the studio version of the track was quickly made available for free download on the band’s official site.
“Implode” represents our first taste of new Slayer since 2009’s World Painted Blood. The band’s current lineup sees Exodus guitarist Gary Holt continuing to fill the void left by last year’s passing of founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman, while drummer Paul Bostaph is recording with the band for the first time since 2001’s God Hates Us All. Along with “Implode” came news that the band has ended their 28-year relationship with Rick Rubin’s American Recordings and will launch their own currently unnamed imprint through Nuclear Blast and release their new album at some point in 2015. Click through for a stream of “Implode.”
