I Suggest You Avoid This Fantastic Trailer For ‘Boyhood’

I’ll be honest. I don’t watch movie trailers. In fact, I do everything in my power to actively avoid them. I prefer to go into movies as fresh as possible. And far too often, trailers just give away too much information. Then again, I see pretty much everything anyway and I know a lot of people who might have a lot less time on their hands use trailers to help them decide how they’re going to spend their hard-earned money and (sometimes more importantly) their 2+ hours of free time. So trust me, I get it.

That being said, even if I was the trailer-watching type, I’d still recommend avoiding the just-released first trailer for Richard Linklater’s Boyhood. The film was shot over a 12 year period, and so much of the film’s enjoyment comes from watching these characters grow and age right before our eyes. Do you really want that experience spoiled in just 90 seconds? I gave the film an A+ review out of Sundance, while it will receive an official theatrical release in July. Watch the trailer below, if you’re so inclined.
