Watch Kendrick Lamar Cover Tupac At The iHeartRadio Music Awards

Last night marked the inaugural iHeartRadio Music Awards, which went off without a hitch at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Though the showcase yielded many memorable moments, none caught our attention quite like Kendrick Lamar’s absolutely killer rendition of Tupac’s “California Love.” Joined by 150 of his biggest fans, the 26-year-old rapper paid homage to his West Coast roots before transitioning (in the coolest way imaginable) into his own track, “M.A.A.d City,” off his most recent full length, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City. Check out the performance after the jump.

Back in March, Kendrick joined forces with the Grammy-nominated Australian rock outfit Tame Impala to produce a wonderful re-imagining of the group’s track “Backwards.” Give it a listen here, and be on the lookout for new material from the young lyricist this coming fall.
