ALBUM STREAM: Conor Oberst – ‘Upside Down Mountain’

Conor Oberst’s newest record, Upside Down Mountain, is set to hit shelves next Tuesday (May 20) through Nonesuch Records. In anticipation of the release, his first since 2012’s One of My Kind, NPR has begun streaming the folk juggernaut’s latest in full — give it a listen here.

“This is a return to an earlier way I wrote. It’s more intimate or personal, if you will,” said the 30-year-old on Upside Down Mountain. “For me, language is a huge part of why I make music. I’m not the greatest guitar player or piano player — I’m not the greatest singer, either — but I feel if I can come up with melodies I like that are fused with poetry I’m proud of, then that’s what I bring to the table.”

If you’re a fan of Oberst’s latest offering, you can catch him as he tours in support of Upside Down Mountain for the next five months; head here to view the full itinerary.
