Most of us here at UTG have been avid fans of the developing V/H/S franchise, even if most of us can’t seem to agree on which of the first two installments is better. There’s no denying though that the team behind this horror franchise have breathed new life into the anthology genre with interesting and terrifying ‘found footage’ material from excellent directors over the past couple of years.

The third movie, titled V/H/S Viral, looks to possibly once again up the insanity with unique visions from a new set of directors: Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Marcel Sarmiento (The ABCs of Death segment “D is for Dogfight”), Gregg Bishop (The Birds of Anger), Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (Resolution) and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition).

Magnolia Pictures’ distributing off-shoot Magnet will be releasing V/H/S Viral (as they have the previous two films) which currently has no release date, but as with V/H/S and V/H/S/2, we expect the new installment to hit VOD and select theaters sometime between this summer and Halloween.

V/H/S: VIRAL’s segments include the story of a deranged illusionist who obtains a magical object of great power, a homemade machine that opens a door to a parallel world, teenage skaters that unwillingly become targets of a Mexican death cult ritual, and a sinister, shadowy organization that is tracking a serial killer. The segments are tied together by the story of a group of fame-obsessed teens following a violent car chase in LA that unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.
