Required Listening: G-Eazy Featuring Remo – “I Mean It”

With just over a month to go until his debut album is released around the globe, West Coast rapper G-Eazy has shared a new album cut with fans who took the time to pre-order These Things Happen.

Titled “I Mean It,” the latest track from Young Gerald continues a trend that has found the young emcee adding his signature laid back flow to hypnotic production that isn’t afraid to pack a punch. With lines like “I am fucking your girlfriend and there is nothing you can do about it” G is making it known he is no longer messing around when he says he is gunning for the top spot in hip-hop. To be honest, I don’t think he was ever kidding in the first place, but there is something behind the aggressive way he attacks the track that has rarely been found on G’s previous work. Remo certainly adds a nice twist to the hook, but this track is focused on the style and flow of G from the opening notes. These Things Happen is quickly shaping up to be the 20-something’s best release to date, which is certainly saying something to those who have followed his rise from the days before Endless Summer to now. G has remained entirely in his own lane, and thanks to a persistent drive to succeed he has made that unique niche known around the globe. If you like what you hear on this track, make sure you head over to iTunes to grab the official digital pre-order as soon as you are financially able to do so.

G-Eazy is headed overseas this summer for the very first time, but should return stateside in time for fall tours and colorful foliage. Stay tuned.
