Lil Wayne Confirms His Comeback Season Has Arrived With “D’usse”

You may choose to disagree, but I am part of the music world that believes the last several Lil Wayne releases were not on par with the rapper’s usual quality of work. There were a lot of good metaphors at play, but there were also a lot of forgettable verses and wasted guest appearances. I was actually ready to write Wayne off until I heard “Believe Me.” That song inspired me to revisit Weezy’s earlier work and I quickly remembered why we spent so many years calling him one of the greatest of all time. If you’ve been on the fence, I suggest spending time doing the same whenever you are able.

Last night, Wayne continued to build hype for the upcoming release of Tha Carter V with the premiere of a new promotion single titled “D’usse.” The track is said to be a leftover from Wayne’s recent album sessions, so it may not appear on Carter V‘s final track listing, but if that happens it will not be because the song is lacking in terms of quality. Wayne fires on all cylinders from the jump, and even though a lot of his topics are the typical array of women, drinking, weed, and wealth it’s still great for numerous spins. You can enjoy the track below:

Tha Carter 5 was originally announced with a May 5 release date, but as you can probably guess that day came and went without a new Weezy album arriving in stores. Wayne has not made a new date known, but according to a tweet from Lil Twist posted earlier this week it would appear the New Orleans born artist is planning a summer tour in support of the record’s release:

This is exciting news for Lil Wayne fans no doubt, but also feels like the latest in a long line of excuses from Young Money to not release Twist’s debut album (Don’t Get It Twisted). Stay tuned for additional updates.
