Remember the end of last year when M.I.A. was discussing politics and performed “Y.A.L.A.” on The Colbert Report without going too too far? Oh, what a thing of the past.
In her new music video, M.I.A. has gone full Tumblr on us and created a flashy, blurred out, GIF-ready music video for “Double Bubble Trouble” off of Matangi. The video, which she directed, has a political edge sparred by 3D printed weapons and multi-screen shots. Who’s to say if the video will still be interesting come the end of the year, but for now it’s definitely got some good cover photos.
