Los Angeles singer-songwriter BANKS drops her debut album, Goddess, September 8, but today we get to preview what’s to come on that release.
BANKS has shared “Drowning,” a new track produced by Al Shux. It played on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show as a Hottest Record and immediately set the stage with dark, industrial backbeats and a sultry, sophisticated voice similar to Lorde. For a moment, a club-style synth shows up in the background, making it a suitor for future remixes. The result would be interesting considering the song is about “creating the idea of a relationship where you’re unheard, you’re trapped in this box – it’s not a healthy situation.”
Stream “Drowning” below and check out her upcoming tour dates here.
