Adam Sandler Admits His Films Are Thinly Veiled Excuses To Go On Paid Vacations

For the better part of the last decade film critics and movie goers alike have searched for reasons why Adam Sandler’s career has essentially tanked. Punch Drunk Love lead many to believe the actor was going to spend the 2000s expanding his brand in Hollywood, but here we are more than a decade later and the only other ‘serious’ film on the actor’s resume is Judd Apatow’s Funny People, which divided film audiences worldwide. The hard truth is that Sandler hasn’t had a hit, or at least a hit on par with his work prior to Click, in more than 5 years and Blended certainly won’t change things. What has changed however, is Sandler’s willingness to admit his reasoning for the films he has chosen to create.

While sitting down on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show earlier this week, Sandler was asked point blank if he uses his films as an excuse to receive a paid vacation. The actor, looking a bit chunkier and older than most will remember, admitted that such motivations have fueled every movie decision he has made since the production for 50 First Dates took him and the Happy Madison crew to Hawaii. You can view a clip featuring these comments at the end of this post.

UTG will have a full review of Blended, Sandler’s latest comedic effort, tomorrow morning. Two of our contributors were lucky enough to catch an advance screening earlier this week and they have not stopped complaining about the film since roughly thirty seconds after it ended. Stay tuned.
