UTG PREMIERE: Pillage & Plunder – “Nutcracker”

Pillage & Plunder Nutcracker Stream

Atlanta’s own cabaret indie-rock trio Pillage & Plunder are diving into the aurally strange (and arguably unknown) on the band’s debut record, The Show Must Go Wrong. The music creates a trip worthy of Haight-Ashbury, while still maintaining a rock n’ roll edge ready to get your head bobbing. Today, we bring you “Nutcracker,” a particularly abstract and well-constructed number from the new record. Drummer Noah Kess had this to say about the record:

“It was important to us that we record a very clean-sounding album. Right now, there’s an overwhelming trend toward trashy lo-fi garage rock. So we wanted to push against that, which is why the album ended up with its ’70s crispness.”
