Diamond Youth Release ‘UK OK’ To Raise Funds For UK Tour

Diamond Youth

Diamond Youth have an upcoming UK tour with Citizen and Headroom all mapped out, sans the money to get them there.

To help with the price of the tickets, the band released an acoustic EP entitled UK OK, containing one new track and three old tracks on their Bandcamp, complete with an update on their current situation. This is reportedly the first time the band has asked for any money from their digital releases.

The EP will be up on their Bandcamp for $4 (or more) for a few days and then they will take it down for good. You can help the band get to the UK by purchasing the EP and sharing it on social media. Check out the tour dates for the UK tour and the full statement from the band below.

Wow, where to begin with this one…

Listen. Let’s just get right to it. We’re supposed to depart for the UK in roughly one month to start a tour with Citizen and Headroom. It will be our first time and we’re really excited…we’ve always wanted to go. The thing is…we have to buy our own tickets up front. The other thing is, tickets are absurdly expensive this time of year (one ticket is $1,600). We kind of knew this was going to be a problem, so instead of of begging people for money and starting a Kickstarter or something terrible, we decided to make a little something instead.

That little something is called UK OK. It’s 1 new song and 3 older ones, all recorded acoustically. The new song is called “Bonfire”. Sometimes in life, you just have to record the acoustic version first. Maybe next time you hear it, it will be completely different. There’s no way of knowing.

Justin recorded these himself at home. It’s kind of weird putting something out that didn’t come out of a studio or with the help of someone else. We literally just finished these 2 days ago and now you can hear them. No one else has even heard these yet except for us.

UK OK is going to be up for download for a few days and then we’ll be taking it down, gone forever. If it were up to us, we’d just give everything away for free. We’ve never really asked for anything or told people to buy our music, so…just know that we really appreciate the help this time around.
