New ‘Hercules’ Trailer Has Life, Death, And Queens Of The Stone Age?

The new trailer for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Hercules has hit and seems to be a big improvement on the first. In this preview there is everything from giant wild boars to a three-headed hydra monster but of course, what is a period film without really angry line recitation. The Rock’s glistening muscles and gravely voice make for a sort of laughable utterance of “I AM HERCULES!” but that probably isn’t the most far fetched thing the film will have. Brett Ratner, director of X-Men: The Last Stand, directs this action adventure that releases on July 25 so consider me wary on how good the finishing product is. Also, I felt the remix of “No One Knows” by Queens of The Stone Age at the end was noteworthy.

Hercules also stars John Hurt (Hellboy), Ian McShane (Deadwood), Rufus Sewell (A Knight’s Tale), and Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love).

Here’s the official plot summary per Comingsoon.net:

Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend… Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.
