We tend to swoon over Lana Del Rey quite a bit over here, and that trend’s been pretty prominent as of late in anticipation for her forthcoming LP, Ultraviolence. But today, we came across something just as noteworthy.
James Vincent McMorrow‘s been on our radar for some time now as he continues to leave us in awe with his arresting indie folk tunes and commanding falsetto, and recently the Irish singer-songwriter stopped by Triple J to cover Lana’s dreamy single, “West Coast,” for their awesomely titled Like A Version series. The results: Lana levels of swoon. James’ distinctive high-pitched voice lends itself well to the smooth, ethereal sway of the track, at times soaring while at others simply soothing. Check out the cover after the break.
McMorrow’s most recent full-length, Post Tropical, dropped back in January and can be purchased on iTunes.
