‘Sharknado 2’ Teaser: It’s Happening Again!

SyFy has released a new teaser for Sharknado 2: The Second One.

New York City has been the target of many disaster epics over the years, but none of them compare to the twister full of sharks that will soon descend on America’s largest city. Yes, Sharknado 2 is a reality and in just over six weeks it will debut on national television, with original Sharknado survivors Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) on hand to save the day. You can enjoy the film’s first teaser trailer below:

I don’t think many people expected the initial Sharknado to be a success, but the film’s ridiculous premise drew in thousands when it originally aired in August 2013. The film then made its way to Netflix, allowing it to reach an even larger audience, which then bolstered already strong social media numbers to the point SyFy would have been foolish to not try striking over-the-top gold twice with an unwarranted and completely unnecessary sequel. I have no doubt Sharknado 2 will be a mess, but as long as it’s a fun mess I am not sure anyone will complain.

The full synopsis for Sharknado 2: The Second One reads:

The highly anticipated follow up to Sharknado, Sharknado 2: The Second One, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished iconic sites. Only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple. And, by the way, the Sharknado that hits NYC makes the one that hit Los Angeles seem positively tame.

Sharkado 2: The Second One co-stars Vivica A. Fox and Mark McGrath. Among the guest stars are Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Judah Friedlander, Andy Dick and Perez Hilton. The movie, which was filmed in New York City, is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante from a screenplay by Thunder Levin (both of whom worked on the first).

Sharknado 2: The Second One premieres Wednesday, July 30 at 9/8c on Syfy.
