Psy Returns With Snoop Dogg And A “Hangover”

Music blogging has its perks, but I have yet to find myself in a situation where I have been fortunate enough to party alongside the iconic Snoop Dogg. If I did, however, I imagine it would go a little something like the latest video from “Gangnam Style” sensation Psy.

“Hangover” is the latest attempt at finding a second helping of viral success Psy has offered up to the masses, and this time he recruited the one and only Snoop D-O-Double-G to help fuel clicks. The song attempts to blend the worlds of k-pop and American hip hop with questionable success, but the video is – as expected – something worthy of your time.

Opening with Psy face down in a toilet after a long night of partying, “Hangover” reveals he and Snoop to be best friends who simply cannot stop living up the party life. As the song plays on Psy eventually recovers from his momentary stomach sickness and the two start partying all over again, stopping in various eateries and karaoke clubs along the way. It’s not quite as amusing as “Gangnam Style,” but it’s certainly one of a kind. You can view the video below.

The jury is still out on whether or not Psy will have another hit here in the United States, but you kind of have to applaud the guy for continuing to try so hard. “Gangnam Style” was the kind of hit you can retire off of and live in obscurity, but Psy has done everything he is able to capitalize on that track’s success and build a sustainable international career. That kind of move takes guts, even if the music you create seems incredibly silly, and for that I applaud Psy.

That said, “Hangover” is just not for me. I’m not sure how it could be for anyone, really, but the video is pretty entertaining for a view or two, and that may be all Psy needs at this point. In fact, considering that the clip has already received more than five million views in less than twenty-four hours it seems safe to say the internet’s crush on Mr. “Gangnam Style” is far from finished.

Dance on, Psy. The world is still watching.
