Following an unexpected leak over the weekend, Linkin Park have partnered with iTunes to stream their upcoming new album in advance of its June 17 release.
The Hunting Party has been teased and promoted since the very end of 2013, but it was not until the late hours of Monday that the album was made available for streaming. The record will arrive in stores next Tuesday, but to build excitement and downplay the aforementioned piracy the band has partnered with iTunes for a special advanced listening opportunity. Linkin Park have been talking about The Hunting Party marking a return to their heavier roots, and based on what we have heard that appears to be the case. This is the band I remember from high school, which was horrifyingly close to a decade ago at this point. Whether or not this return to form resonates with current music fans remains to be seen, but I definitely encourage everyone to give The Hunting Party a chance.

It is a great album. Right off the bat, Chester let’s loose with Keys To The Kingdom. I am in love with The Hunting Party.
Awesome album, though (and I may catch a ton of flak for this) my favorite album I think was A Thousand Suns. I hope they don’t abandon that style completely, but I am digging the heavier vibe they got back in touch with.
Yes ATS is a masterpiece IMO. But THP joins it as my favorite LP album now.
I’m less of a fan of THP as I’ve always loved their progressive evolution. I thought it was kind of a staple of LP to push the boundaries of genres. They never sounded like someone else, not even themselves.
THP is a step back in that regard, sounding not just like their old selves, but very much like other artists around the time of their conception. I still dig it, but not as much as their other work. Still, they wanted to get back to their roots in rock and I respect that.
I’ll still be listening to it on repeat for at least a few days, though.
